Revenue tracking

Record order values with custom events and see total and average revenue per goal.

Revenue tracking lets you attach a monetary amount to a custom event — usually a purchase — and see total revenue and average revenue per conversion alongside your goals.

1. Create a revenue goal

In Site settings → Goals → Add goal, create a custom event goal (for example Purchase) and choose the currency you want to report in. Revenue can only be attached to custom event goals.

2. Send the amount

Send the event with a revenue object containing an amount and an ISO 4217 currency code:

plausible('Purchase', { revenue: { amount: 49.99, currency: 'GBP' } })
  • amount can be a number or a numeric string, such as "49.99".
  • The currency of the event doesn't have to match the goal's currency. PlainAnalytics converts it using daily exchange rates published by the European Central Bank and stores both the original and the converted amount.
  • You can send properties at the same time, for example props: { plan: 'yearly' }.

Over the Events API, send the same object as revenue:

{ "name": "Purchase", "url": "https://example.com/checkout/done", "domain": "example.com",
  "revenue": { "amount": "49.99", "currency": "GBP" } }

3. See the results

Revenue goals show Revenue and Average columns in the Goals report. Filter the dashboard by the goal to see which sources, pages and campaigns bring in the most money. In the Stats API, use the total_revenue and average_revenue metrics.

Don't include order IDs, customer names or email addresses in properties — the amount is all PlainAnalytics needs.
